Been watching the anime and reading the manga for a long time and I can't stand waiting for updates and new releases anymore。 I just had to start reading the light novel。 Wasn't as good as I expected, but still enjoyed it a lot nonetheless。 Gonna dive straight into volume 2 next。 Been watching the anime and reading the manga for a long time and I can't stand waiting for updates and new releases anymore。 I just had to start reading the light novel。 Wasn't as good as I expected, but still enjoyed it a lot nonetheless。 Gonna dive straight into volume 2 next。 。。。more

Having enjoyed the anime, I decided to give the light novel a try。 While the anime is a decent adaptation, the few extra details added in the novel certainly make a few apparent haphazard decisions in the anime a lot more sensible。 Having Rimuru contemplate some of his abilities cost a tad too much mana to be used regularly also downplay at least some of his (her?) OP-ness。 On the other hand, I think Shizu has been dealt with much better in the anime, especially her meeting with Rimuru。 The lang Having enjoyed the anime, I decided to give the light novel a try。 While the anime is a decent adaptation, the few extra details added in the novel certainly make a few apparent haphazard decisions in the anime a lot more sensible。 Having Rimuru contemplate some of his abilities cost a tad too much mana to be used regularly also downplay at least some of his (her?) Love this series so much。 Not much to say I’d you like the anime you should like the series to of you don’t like the anime you probably won’t like it。 Personally I loved it was great even had a side story about gobta that’s not in the anime a lot of stuff was a little different to I think because I’da book and there’s more detail。 Totally worth the read would read again starting number two right away

Found this as the anime first and loved it。 Found out it was also a light novel and had to get it。 Really enjoyed the book。 Have plans to read the other volumes。

It's very different from the manga and the anime, but I really like the insight on what each character is thinking, specially Rimuru's thoughts on how to become the leader of his nation。 It's very different from the manga and the anime, but I really like the insight on what each character is thinking, specially Rimuru's thoughts on how to become the leader of his nation。 。。。more

I highly recommend this light novel especially if you're already a fan of the anime or manga。 The humor of the author is just doubled in the novel。 I especially enjoyed how much deeper readers know about Rimuro's thought processes whilst casually building his nation and creating his empire。 I highly recommend this light novel especially if you're already a fan of the anime or manga。 The humor of the author is just doubled in the novel。 I especially enjoyed how much deeper readers know about Rimuro's thought processes whilst casually building his nation and creating his empire。 。。。more

Funny。 Interesting。This book is written well。 The humor is there and put in good parts。 The storytelling is good too。 I really enjoyed it。 Rimuru was more serious here than in the anime though。 That's probably still his 37-year old mind working in there。 It would be nice to aee him slowly let loose in the next books。The Gobta story at the end was fun to read too。 The fact that he was the first POV featured tells volumes, ngl。 He's probably gonna reach lofty heights。I'm excited to read the rest! First Novel of the SeriesAfter reading Overlord and coming to this, I am surprised how many episodes they got out of this one volume, there are differences in the timeline and reasoning in some of the actions the characters take but all in all a good read

I wish it to be more like the original story。。。

WEB NOVEL THOUGHTS- absolutely enjoying the story。- the anime is better in a sense of storytelling and because the visuals are incredible。 also there were certain parts that i liked better on the anime such as the development between the three human travellers with shizu (their relationship felt colder and more distance in the light novel)。- i'm so glad that there's a translation of this light novel。 while i wait for the manga and tv show to complete, i'm going to finish this collection first。wi WEB NOVEL THOUGHTS- absolutely enjoying the story。- the anime is better in a sense of storytelling and because the visuals are incredible。 also there were certain parts that i liked better on the anime such as the development between the three human travellers with shizu (their relationship felt colder and more distance in the light novel)。- i'm so glad that there's a translation of this light novel。 while i wait for the manga and tv show to complete, i'm going to finish this collection first。will be reading the light novel soon。 。。。more

Really different from manga and animation。 But it’s nice because reading it doesn’t feel as repetitive as I expected。

It’s very good and very gay。

A charming tale about reincarnating as a slime and what it takes to build societies and civilization :-)The book inspires thought about the nature of cooperating with other creatures in diverse ecosystems versus competing with power alone。 (Quite a pleasant read even after seeing the anime back in 2019。)

It's hard to rate this because it's a light novel。 I think it's meant to be read by teens or casual readers。 With that in mind, it's a pretty good book with an interesting premise。 The first book is the best。TL;DR A short and fun fantasy novel。(view spoiler)[I feel like the later books added more and more characters until there are too many that I no longer care about them anymore。 (hide spoiler)] It's hard to rate this because it's a light novel。 I think it's meant to be read by teens or casual readers。 With that in mind, it's a pretty good book with an interesting premise。 The first book is the best。TL;DR A short and fun fantasy novel。(view spoiler)[I feel like the later books added more and more characters until there are too many that I no longer care about them anymore。 (hide spoiler)] 。。。more

I'll be mostly frank in that I don't think high fantasy really works for me, and this feels high fantasy to me, and I just couldn't get into it myself。 Alternatively, the light novel format just doesn't work for me, for whatever reason。 I'll be mostly frank in that I don't think high fantasy really works for me, and this feels high fantasy to me, and I just couldn't get into it myself。 Alternatively, the light novel format just doesn't work for me, for whatever reason。 。。。more

I like verry much this series。 The story begins a little slow the first couple of chapters but then gaters speed。 The main characters is very powerfull almost from the begining but unlike characters in other series he tries to avoid violence。 Some people ddislike the series because they want more action。 Highly recomended。

So this was an incredibly fast read。 But that was a good thing in this case。 Not because it was bad, but because it wasn't bogged down with description。I have never seen the anime and wanted to give the light novel a try first。 And truthfully, i liked it。 First of all, i like the idea that the main character in this portal fantasy is in his 30's。 that's very rare as everyone is either like。。。 17 or at the oldest, 21。 That was cool to see。 I was a little wary about the idea of the main character So this was an incredibly fast read。 But that was a good thing in this case。 Not because it was bad, but because it wasn't bogged down with description。I have never seen the anime and wanted to give the light novel a try first。 And truthfully, i liked it。 First of all, i like the idea that the main character in this portal fantasy is in his 30's。 that's very rare as everyone is either like。。。 17 or at the oldest, 21。 That was cool to see。 I was a little wary about the idea of the main character being a slime, but it quickly grew on me and i began to like the premise。 the idea of him trying to help random monsters instead of humans was pretty cool and i'm interested to see more。The biggest problem i had with it was they seemed to like having side character stories。 there were two。 one interspersed throughout the book about a girl named Shizue, of which i didn't care and kinda zoned out while reading, and at the end, the story of a goblin。 which i also kind of zoned out during。 I really didn't care about these stories, and every time the perspective moved from the main character to someone else, my eyes tended to gloss over and i had trouble focusing。The main character is a TAD op, but i forgive it because he's an ex-human who has to be a slime and i'm interested to see where it goes。 The overall story is fun and i'm definitely reading the second one, but i really hope they stop with the side character stories randomly shoved in between chapters。 It's honestly what stopped this book from being a 5/5 for me。 So overall, i give it a 4/5 and am very excited to read the second book。 。。。more

This is completely fine。 A nice isekai LN with light humor and a quaint RPGish setting。 The anime is probably the definitive version of the story at this point。 Recommended for fans of the genre, but probably won’t pull in skeptics。 The art is nice, with slightly sketchy line work。

The protagonist was over 40 when he died as a human。 As a fellow old guy that was reading Japanese manga and light novels, and playing tabletop RPGs in the late '80s, I might be seeing a very different product than most kids today。I had just finished reading the web novel when it was announced that it was being made into an anime。 This was one of the best series I had read in years, but I know from experience that the greater something is the more a corporate executive will want to "improve" it。 The protagonist was over 40 when he died as a human。 As a fellow old guy that was reading Japanese manga and light novels, and playing tabletop RPGs in the late '80s, I might be seeing a very different product than most kids today。I had just finished reading the web novel when it was announced that it was being made into an anime。 This was one of the best series I had read in years, but I know from experience that the greater something is the more a corporate executive will want to "improve" it。 Corprate media is no exception。 The translation glosses over many of the ideas and cultural assumptions that really made this story click。 What you do get is entertaining and if you can keep in mind that your not really seeing the whole picture then this is something well worth your time and money。 The translation of the light novel, the manga and anime are all missing pieces so either learn to read Japanese or just sick it up and deal with it。 。。。more
